National Trainer - Restorative Practice Practitioner-Building and Classroom Culture Developer

Horace E. Stone Jr. is a native Detroiter and a product of Detroit Public Schools and Detroit’s Catholic School System. He is a proud graduate of Saint Martin De Porres Catholic High School. Also, Mr. Stone has his own story of success which he often shares with his learners as a source of inspiration.  As a student, he struggled immensely with literacy, but with help from his high school football coach (who tutored him before and after practice), Mr. Stone persevered and overcame his literacy challenges to earn a Bachelor of Education Degree and Master of Education Degree. Overcoming life challenges served, and continues to serve as a catalyst for his commitment to educating under-served/ underrepresented youth along with educating teachers/adult learners in better understanding of At-risk Youth. Mr. Stone’s motto for teaching and life is “We are lifting as we climb!”

Horace is a well-recognized former teacher-leader and current school administrator with 20 plus years of K-8 experience. Additionally, Mr. Stone is a Certified School Restorative Practice Coordinator w/ ADHD Neuroscience Certification. As an education leader, he possesses a wealth of curriculum/ instruction and assessment experience along with in-depth continuous school improvement knowledge via his extensive work with Cognia, Inc. (formerly AdvancED) and Michigan ASCD. Mr. Stone brings an in-depth knowledge of comprehensive classroom behavior management strategies for adverse conditions stemming from Trauma. After two-plus decades of working tirelessly in the field of education, Horace has become extremely knowledgeable and experienced in all facets of elementary pedagogy; his lengthy tenure has allowed him to serve in various teacher-leader roles ranging from elementary/to middle-level teacher to Out of School Time Program Supervisor. It is these academic experiences that have made Mr. Stone extremely effective in creating and implementing restorative classroom cultures via enacted curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Also, Mr. Stone is an active member of The Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals.
